Program Foundation Statement

Justice Begins with Education and Exposure: Training Tomorrow’s Advocates Today.

This internship exists to create a pipeline of informed, empowered, and service-driven young leaders who are prepared to advocate for themselves, their communities, and those too often overlooked or unheard.

Core Principles of the Advocate for the Underdog Internship

Education Through Exposure

We believe students learn best when they are exposed to real-world experiences. Interns will gain firsthand insight into the legal profession through courtroom observation, client interaction, mentorship, case preparation, and community engagement. The program is built on the belief that access creates opportunity, and exposure builds confidence, competence, and purpose.

Advocacy Rooted in Integrity and Service

This program is designed to develop advocates who understand that leadership is not about status — it is about service. Interns will be taught to lead with professionalism, empathy, accountability, and integrity while recognizing the responsibility attorneys and public servants have to protect fairness, access to justice, and the dignity of every individual.

Empowerment Through Excellence and Opportunity

We are committed to empowering the next generation by holding them to high standards while providing meaningful opportunities to grow. Through mentorship, discipline, critical thinking, communication, and leadership development, interns will be encouraged to pursue excellence in academics, advocacy, and community impact while understanding that their voices, experiences, and ideas matter.

2026 ADVOCATE FOR THE UNDERDOG INTERns

I'm a high school student based in Frisco, Texas with a strong interest in pursuing a career in law. Through my involvement in debate, Model United Nations, and Teen Court, l've developed skills in public speaking, critical thinking, and analyzing complex legal issues.

I'm particularly interested in how attorneys approach real-world cases and advocate for their clients, and I'm excited to gain hands-on experience through this opportunity.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing violin and piano,

baking, and spending time with friends and family.

Brandon Gladney is a rising 10th grader who balances academic excellence with a deep commitment to athletics and leadership. With a 3.8 GPA and enrollment in the Graphic Design/Digital Multimedia track alongside pre-law electives, Brandon is intentional about building a strong foundation for his future. He is an A/B Honor Roll student and a multi-sport athlete in football, basketball, and track, where he is recognized as the all-time fastest freshman in the 100M. In May, he was honored as Freshman Student of the Month, a distinction awarded to only one male and one female student, out of more than 900 freshman students. In addition to his academic and athletic pursuits, Brandon has an impressive background in commercial and print media. From ages 5 to 13, he was signed with The Clutts Agency and appeared in national commercials for brands such as Home Depot, Tractor Supply Company, and Subway, along with numerous print campaigns and a short film.

Brandon's long-term goal is to attend college on an athletic scholarship and pursue a career in sports and entertainment law. He is grateful and excited to begin his internship with The Law Office of Antoinette N. Harris, PLLC, where he hopes to gain meaningful insight into the esteemed legal profession. When he's not studying or training, Brandon can be found spending time with his family, especially his parents and three younger siblings, who remain his biggest supporters.

Helena Martinez is a rising junior with a passion for communication, persuasive speaking, and leadership.

Through Debate and Model United Nations, she has developed a strong interest in advocacy, strategic thinking, and understanding different perspectives.

Outside of academics, Helena is a varsity cheerleader, active community volunteer, and trilingual international student fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
